Clamping of Turbine blades for “Fir-tree” machining

We just developed another new technique to centre and clamp turbine blades.

Turbine blades are mounted on their turbine wheel by means of a “fir tree” foot. This foot must precisely be machined and in this machining operation the blade has to be firmly held by tooling that clamps on the spiralling surface of the turbine blade. Our novel technique makes this clamping possible, our tooling adapts to the surface of the blade distributing the surface pressures to avoid any damage to the blade. At the same time it allows an accurate positioning of the blade.
